Couples Therapy
Restoring Safe Connection
We seek out relationship in order to feel connected, safe, loved, excited and fulfilled. With each of our unique histories of interpersonal wounding as well systemic oppression/trauma, intimate relationships often become the site of re-wounding, disappointment, resentment and disconnection. This doesn't have to be the end of your story. Couples therapy unpacks, rework and helps heal the wounds within and between you. The goal is to revitalize the connection, excitement and love that brought you together in the first place.
I've found relationship therapy to be most successful when both partners are willing to become more conscious of how they themselves are contributing to the dynamic. I've witnessed profound healing when this happens, and the return of a joy and safety that can be hard to believe is possible at the outset of therapy. I've also supported couples in discerning when the relationship no longer supports their growth and well-being, and we've been able to bring care and thoughtfulness to endings and transitions. This is challenging and enlivening work and I'd love to talk with you and your partner more about what you are looking for.
You deserve to feel good in your body. You deserve to wake up excited about the day that lies ahead. You deserve to get angry and feel sad and be disappointed and go through the full spectrum of human emotions and know that you are worthy of love and compassion through all of it. You deserve to be ever evolving, changing and growing AND to know deep in your bones that you are beautiful, worthy and wildly lovable right now, just as you are.
It is my role to provide support and guidance to help you connect with your intuition and bridge the gap between body and mind. Our bodies are vast wellsprings of vital information about how we can live happy, healthy and satisfying lives. We often shy away from examining our self-sabotaging patterns because the guilt and self-criticism can take over. In good therapy, this self-reflection is held with gentleness and with respect for your innate goodness and our common human struggle.
Together, we will reweave the connection between body, mind and spirit. I offer trauma informed depth psychotherapy and am EMDR certified.
